Some things to consider when setting up your PPC campaign
Attracting visitors to your website is all important when you are trying to increase your company’s visibility on the internet and there are a few things you need to consider before embarking on this. First of all you need to know exactly what you want to achieve from your pay per click (ppc) campaign, do you want to increase sales, increase visitor numbers, impart information or do you have some other purpose or agenda. Once you have this clear idea, you can then go about targeting the right sort of visitors for your site.
Keywords, key phrases and adverts.
It is very important that you have a proper keyword research report done so that you are aware of what would be suitable and what is not. This report will also help you divide your campaign into manageable chunks and keep each section of the campaign relevant. Always make sure that the copy for your adverts is relevant, never mislead potential customers and keep your adverts snappy and interesting. You only have so many words to fit into your adverts, so use these carefully. After all, your adverts will either attract visitors or put them off going to your site. These adverts will lead the visitor to a specially built landing page or the main site. Test your adverts continually and change them from time to time.
Landing pages.
Landing pages are important and it is a good idea to have a specific landing page for each campaign. These pages are the first thing your potential customer sees after clicking on your advert, so you need to make a good impression. It is a bit like an interview, so have good copy and make sure that the grammar and spelling are correct. Always keep these pages relevant, do not ramble or discuss things that have nothing to do with that particular campaign. Make it easy for the visitor to go to the main site, keep things simple and very straightforward.
Setting Your PPC Budget.
It is easy to set up a ppc campaign with search engines such as Google. Set yourself a sensible budget for the month and make sure that you set a maximum daily spend in your campaign, that way you can have control and will not overspend. Try to achieve places between 3 and 5, that way you will still be on the front page but will not be paying top dollar for each click. Your budget must give you a return on your investment, so keep a close eye on what campaigns are working and which are not. Stop any that are not working as these are just wasting your funds. Remember, every click costs money, so don’t waste it on something that is not giving you a return.
Be vigilant when reviewing the monthly statistics, these can give you huge amounts of information as to how your campaign is doing and what needs attention. If you pay attention to each detail of your ppc campaign, there is no reason for it not to be successful.
