When you are considering placing links on other sites for SEO purposes you don't really have to know what sort of traffic a website gets, as all you want is the 'Link Juice' that such links provide. However, when you are thinking about placing a link on a site to gain traffic, then you need to know how popular the site is, especially if you are paying for the link.
Whilst buying links is considered a bit of a non starter for SEO purposes there are times when it may be OK (see our premium link building service), but even in these instances we don't recommend buying links just for SEO purposes, so even here you need to know the traffic that another site is getting.
